AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 tested
AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is a new top-end AM5 desktop processor built around a dual 3D V-Cache design. It features 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, up to 5.6 GHz boost, a 200W TDP, and 208MB of total cache, split between 192MB of L3 and 16MB of L2.
Unlike the standard Ryzen 9 9950X3D, AMD says this is the first desktop CPU with stacked cache on both CCDs, which is why the company is presenting it as more than a routine refresh. AMD is not positioning the chip as a pure gaming part either, and its own messaging places the 9950X3D2 closer to creator, developer, and mixed-workload systems that still benefit from X3D gaming performance.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 launches tomorrow with a $899 MSRP, which puts it at the top of AMD’s mainstream desktop stack, below Threadripper but above the regular Ryzen 9 9950X3D in both price and positioning. Whether it’s actually worth it, let’s check the reviews below:
