NZXT says Redditor omitted key details in RTX 5090 ROG Astral leak dispute
© Reddit/PCMR Following an earlier report on RTX 5090/AIO leak case, we have just received a statement from NZXT disputing several claims made in a Reddit post about a leaking AIO cooler that allegedly damaged an ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090. The company says the user’s version of events left out key details, including a higher corrected valuation, multiple settlement offers, and delays tied to missing paperwork.
Redditor was offered not $2855 but $4378
According to NZXT, “The $2,855.99 figure is not what NZXT offered.” The company says that number was only the original invoice price and that it was corrected the same day to “$4,161.90, reflecting current market value.” NZXT also says the customer’s public posts did not include that correction. The company added that it made “ five separate compensation offers, ” including “ a brand-new ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 sourced at retail ” and “a cash settlement at current market value.”
NZXT also disputes the timeline presented by the Redditor. In its statement, the company says it accepted the customer’s own counter-offer of “$4,378” on February 27, but claims the user then “added new conditions and did not sign.” NZXT says the GPU was returned on March 6 after all settlement options had been formally rejected, and that the claim was later reopened by the customer on March 10 at “$4,807.90.”

The company also addressed the salvage dispute . “When NZXT pays a full loss settlement, we retain the damaged hardware,” the statement says. NZXT argues that liquid-damaged components are “an electrical risk” and says this is standard practice to keep them out of service and off the secondary market. On the motherboard , NZXT says it “issued an RMA for the customer’s motherboard on December 23, 2025” but the user “declined to send it in.”
This statement changes the picture around the case and suggests NZXT made a stronger effort to resolve it than the original Reddit post indicated. Based on the company’s account, it is not immediately clear why the customer rejected an offer at that level.
According to the information we received, the case has now been referred to NZXT’s legal team. Publicly posting the dispute on Reddit and discussing possible legal action may not have helped the customer’s position.
