Microsoft Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8 rumored to slip by a month, Intel models still expected first

Microsoft’s next Surface launch may be moving back by about a month, based on a new comment from Roland Quandt (WinFuture) on Bluesky. The rumor points to a delay for upcoming Surface hardware, which recent leaks have identified as the Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8. Microsoft has not announced either system yet, so the timeline remains unofficial for now.
So it looks like Surface got pushed out by about a month. Wonder why that is. Shouldn’t matter as the prices are probably going to be so bad, noone will be able to afford the things anyways…. #microslop

Surface 2026: Intel- and Qualcomm based
As we reported that Microsoft’s next Surface refresh was expected to bring Snapdragon X2 consumer models and Panther Lake business SKUs, which fits the broader picture of a split Intel and Qualcomm rollout. Until Microsoft confirms launch dates, pricing, and final specs, the reported one-month delay should be treated as rumor.
The delay lines up with an earlier Windows Central report that said Microsoft was planning a two-stage rollout for new Surface PCs in 2026. That report said Intel-based models would arrive first in spring, followed by Snapdragon X2 versions in summer. It also said Microsoft was preparing both Intel and Qualcomm variants across the Surface range, with OLED options planned for higher-end Surface Laptop configurations.
Microsoft has just increased prices on existing Surface systems
Quandt wrote that the prices are “so bad,” without sharing exact figures. That comment comes after Microsoft already raised prices across its current Surface lineup earlier this month. The Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7 are now $500 above their original starting prices, while the 12-inch Surface Pro moved from $799 to $1,049 and the 13-inch Surface Laptop from $899 to $1,199.
I don’t know what Microsoft is thinking, but their devices don’t justify the price they’re asking this month.
