Xbox Game Pass and Discord
Microsoft has started teasing another Xbox and Discord partnership, and this time the message points directly at Game Pass. Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma said Xbox is teaming up with Discord again as part of a push to make Game Pass “more flexible” for players, adding that some users may start seeing code appear before the company shares full details. The teaser came just one day after Microsoft lowered US pricing for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
The wording suggests this is less about adding a brand-new social feature and more about changing how Game Pass is packaged. Xbox and Discord already have most of the core integration work in place. Discord voice chat on Xbox consoles rolled out in 2022. Xbox game streaming to Discord followed in 2023, and later console updates added direct calling, stream viewing, and more Discord presence features on Xbox in 2024.

Nitro with Game Pass
The clearest clue is that Microsoft and Discord already run an active subscription perk. Discord’s support page says eligible Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can claim one month of Discord Nitro starting April 1, 2026. That makes an expanded Nitro offer, a longer trial, or a bundled lower-cost tier such as Nitro Basic a logical next step.
Microsoft exploring other partnerships
Recent reports said Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters and Sharma have discussed possible subscription bundles. Microsoft has reportedly been looking at third-party services as part of a more flexible Game Pass strategy. So perhaps Discord and Netflix are not the last services that may at some point join the Xbox Game Pass club. What else should they add?
