ASUS rolls out AMD EXPO 1.2 support for X870 beta BIOS, with CUDIMM support expected

ASUS adds AMD EXPO 1.2 support to X870 beta BIOS

The new beta BIOS targets several ROG Crosshair, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming and ProArt X870 motherboards.

ASUS has posted new beta BIOS files for several AMD X870 and X870E motherboards. The update is listed as Beta BIOS 2301 for most models, while selected boards use BIOS 0911 or 1670.

The changelog is short. ASUS lists “ Add EXPO 1.2 support ” and a new Crosshair Tweak option. The company also warns that older CMO files should not be used with this AGESA 1301 BIOS.

The update covers ROG Crosshair X870E HERO, HERO BTF, DARK HERO, APEX, EXTREME and GLACIAL boards. It also includes multiple ROG Strix X870 and X870E models, TUF Gaming X870 boards and the ProArt X870E Creator WiFi.

EXPO 1.2 with CUDIMM?

ASUS does not explain what EXPO 1.2 changes in this BIOS. However, HWiNFO added AMD EXPO 1.20 support in December, and 1usmus later said that EXPO 1.2 is tied to CUDIMM memory support.

This does not confirm full CUDIMM support on current AM5 motherboards. According to 1usmus, existing 600 and 800 series boards can work in bypass mode, while full support requires a platform change. The ASUS beta BIOS may therefore be an early step for updated memory profiles, not a full platform-level CUDIMM implementation.
