DDR5 64GB memory kits drop below $500 in Japan for first time in four months

DDR5-4800 64GB kit drops to ¥78,000 in Akihabara market survey

Japanese retailers are showing lower prices on several DDR5 and DDR4 memory kits, according to AKIBA PC Hotline’s latest Akihabara price survey.

The largest cuts apply to DDR5 32GB x 2 kits. A DDR5-4800 64GB kit dropped by ¥21,800, or 21.8% , to ¥78,000 at Dospara, which is about $489. This is the first time in four months that a 64GB DDR5 DIMM kit has fallen below ¥80,000 in the survey, notes the media.

Other 64GB DDR5 kits also moved lower. DDR5-5600 dropped to ¥89,980, or about $565, while DDR5-6000 fell to ¥88,000, or about $552. DDR5-6400 is now listed at ¥92,800, or about $582.

Smaller kits also saw cuts. A DDR5-5600 16GB x 2 kit dropped to ¥47,980, or about $301, which the report says is the lowest 32GB DDR5 DIMM kit price tracked this year. A DDR5-7200 16GB x 2 kit was listed at ¥58,980, or about $370.

DDR4 still much cheaper

DDR4 and laptop memory also saw lower sale pricing. A DDR4-3200 32GB x 2 kit dropped to ¥54,780, or about $344, while a DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM 64GB x 2 kit fell to ¥199,800, or about $1,254. High-capacity desktop DDR5 is still mixed, as a DDR5-5600 64GB x 2 kit rose by ¥30,000 to ¥278,000, or about $1,745, in the same survey.
