AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D undercuts 9950X3D2 by 36%
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D is now listed for $574on Amazon US, one of the lowest prices for the 16-core Zen 5 X3D processor.
The new price puts the 9950X3D $325 below the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, which launched at $899. AMD’s newer Dual Edition keeps the same 16-core and 32-thread layout, but adds 3D V-Cache to both CCDs. It also raises the total cache to 208MB and the TDP to 200W.
Reviews show why the cheaper 9950X3D is now easier to recommend for most buyers. Reviewers found small or no gaming gains, rather an improvement in workstation and content creation, although some attribute that to higher power consumption (X3D2 has higher TDP).
AMD says the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is up to 7% faster than the 9950X3D in multithreaded workloads. At $573.99, the regular 9950X3D is now much cheaper than the $899 dual-cache model, while offering similar performance in many tested workloads. So don’t overpay!
