SAPPHIRE launches Radeon RX 9070 XT PhantomLink Series with cable-free GPU power
Apparently, Sapphire thinks their new Radeon cards are worth $989.
SAPPHIRE has officially launched its NITRO+ Radeon RX 9070 XT PhantomLink Series, bringing its cable-free GPU power design to retail. The standard Radeon RX 9070 XT PhantomLink Edition is priced at $989, while the Polar Edition is priced at $999. The cards were already on sale in China, so it’s not a new release, just Sapphire finally realizing customers also exist elsewhere.
The cards are joined by matching SAPPHIRE NITRO+ X870EA PhantomLink motherboards. The standard board is priced at $399, while the Polar Edition costs $419. This means SAPPHIRE is selling the PhantomLink graphics cards and motherboards as a full NITRO+ platform, with standard and white-themed options.

We previously covered this design when SAPPHIRE confirmed the RX 9070 XT PhantomLink in China. Those early listings showed a titanium model and a white variant with hidden GPU power delivery through a rear connector.
PhantomLink uses a direct connector interface for GPU power delivery. Instead of routing PCIe power cables to the graphics card, the power connector is handled through the motherboard. SAPPHIRE lists the GPU with a PhantomLink, GC-HPWR and BTF-style power connector, which means it is not limited only to SAPPHIRE’s own motherboard.

The NITRO+ Radeon RX 9070 XT PhantomLink cards keep the same core specifications listed for SAPPHIRE’s high-end RX 9070 XT models. The card uses 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus at 20 Gbps, with 4096 stream processors, 64 ray accelerators, a game clock of up to 2520 MHz and a boost clock of up to 3060 MHz.

SAPPHIRE also lists several platform features for the X870EA PhantomLink boards, including tool-free M.2 heatsinks, debug display, Clear CMOS and BIOS update buttons, and NITRO Glow ARGB lighting controlled through TriXX software. The GPU side adds power monitoring and protection through TriXX, thermal pad changes for lower hotspot temperatures, and a new grille design for the Polar Edition.
