Corsair ThermalProtect 12V-2×6 cable launches at $24.99, here to protect your card from ‘totally safe’ GPU connector

Corsair’s new 12V-2×6 GPU cable costs half of ASUS ROG Equalizer price and works with 3rd party power supplies

Corsair has launched ThermalProtect, a PCIe 5.1 600W 12V-2×6 GPU power cable with built-in over-temperature protection. The cable is designed to monitor temperature near the GPU power connector and shut the graphics card down if unsafe temperatures are detected.

The sensor hardware is integrated inside a cable comb placed 30 mm from the connector. Corsair says the system works without user configuration and remains active once the cable is connected. The cable is compatible with power supplies that already have a native 12V-2×6 connector.

The company lists the ThermalProtect cable at $24.99 in the US. This makes it half the price of ASUS ROG Equalizer, which is listed on the ASUS US store at $49.99. The two products take different approaches, as ASUS focuses on current balancing and higher wire load capacity, while Corsair adds a thermal shutdown trigger through an integrated sensor.

Unlike ASUS ROG Equalizer, which ASUS says is bundled with 2026 ROG Thor III and ROG Strix Platinum power supplies, Corsair’s ThermalProtect cable is currently sold as a standalone accessory. Corsair does not list it as bundled with any power supply at launch. This means users need to buy it separately, even if they already own a compatible Corsair or third-party PSU. The company claims the cable supports any native 12V-2×6 power supply. They are literally saying ‘any native 12V-2×6 connection,’ so that supposedly means any pwoer supply and any GPU.

Corsair offers the cable in black and white versions. It is 650 mm long and uses dual-tone connector tips to help users confirm that the cable is fully seated. The cable carries a two-year warranty and is available now through Corsair’s webstore and authorized retailers.

We already covered related attempts to make 12V-2×6 GPU power delivery safer, including ASUS ROG Equalizer, ASRock’s protected 12V-2×6 cable and GIGABYTE’s T-Guard cable monitoring feature. Corsair is now joining that same category, but with a lower standalone price than ASUS. Here’s an updated chart with all the cables announced so far:
