Lenovo Legion Go with Z1 Extreme now costs $999 after launching at $699 two years ago

Lenovo doesn’t want you to buy its gaming handheld

Because why would anyone pay this much for an old handheld?

Lenovo’s original Legion Go handheld has appeared at a much higher price than its launch MSRP. The Ryzen Z1 Extreme model with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and 512GB of storage is now listed by Best Buy at $999 , although the current offer is not a standard Best Buy retail listing.

The Legion Go was announced on September 1, 2023, as Lenovo’s first Windows gaming handheld. The 512GB Ryzen Z1 Extreme configuration launched at $699.99 i n the US, while the 1TB model was listed at $749.99. The device reached retail in late October and November 2023, depending on the market.

The current Best Buy listing shows the 512GB model at $999, which is $299 above the original launch price . This is roughly 30 months after the handheld first reached retail. However do note that the listing is tied to Best Buy Marketplace availability, not directly by Best Buy.

To give you some context, back in 2024 we covered the same 512GB Legion Go dropping to $529.99 in October 2024 , with some later listings going even lower. That means the current marketplace price is almost double the lowest price seen for this configuration.

Not the first (and last?) Legion Go price hike

Lenovo’s handheld pricing has been shifting across multiple models. We also reported that the Legion Go 2 with Ryzen Z2 Extreme and 2TB of storage was li sted by Lenovo at $2,849.99, far above its original $1,479.99 launch price. The newer handhelds have also been affected by higher memory and storage costs, although Lenovo has not issued a direct explanation for this original Legion Go listing.
