French retailer is now selling defective RTX 5090 for €1500, no returns accepted

LDLC lists defective GeForce RTX 5090 cards from €1,499

French retailer LDLC has listed defective GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards through its “hors service” category. These are not open-box or refurbished cards. The retailer claims these are non-functional products with physical damage.

The cheaper listing is a generic NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 priced at €1,499.95. LDLC says the brand and model may vary depending on stock. A second listing covers the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G VENTUS 3X OC at €1,699.95.

According to LDLC, the cards were working before being damaged during transport to a previous customer. The retailer says the damage may include PCB breakage, impact damage or deformation. The cards are described as complete and not disassembled, with the GPU, memory and other components still present.

Price is high, but they might be an easy fix

LDLC makes it clear that the cards cannot be used in their current condition. The retailer says they are intended only for professionals or buyers with the skills required to repair the board or recycle components. If you follow our site, then you saw many repairs of these expensive cards, now retailing for much more (around €3500)

A good repair service could remove and reball the GPU and memory onto a new board and still make hundreds of euros on each card. It does not make sense for the retailer to do this through a third-party repair service, because it would then be responsible for any future faults or damage.

If these cards still have fully functional GPUs and memory, but are broken because PCB traces were severed or solder points were damaged, this could be a relatively quick repair for an experienced service. The work would still require testing, but for a shop with the right equipment, it may be more valuable as a donor or repair project than as a non-functional retail product.
