ONEXPLAYER X2 Mini “AMD Strix Halo” handheld prototype shown with X1 controller support

ONEXPLAYER X2 Mini handheld shown with OneXFly Apex upgrade path

A Chinese hands-on video has shown an engineering prototype of the ONEXPLAYER X2 Mini, giving a closer look at the handheld before release.

The prototype still has unfinished transparent face buttons, which the presenter says have not yet received their final coloring. The video also confirms that the X2 Mini uses a controller rail design compatible with the ONEXPLAYER X1 series. So basically this video confirms you can use controllers from the X1 system, which makes a lot of sense, rather than keep separate controllers for each device (and Onexplayer has plenty).

In the video, the X2 Mini is shown with an X1-style grip controller attached. The controller has a removable D-pad module, which can be detached and replaced. The controller base also includes a centered touchpad, giving the device another input option when used without a keyboard or mouse.

Upgrade from Apex

The presenter also mentions an upgrade path for OneXFly Apex users. According to the Bilibili post, Apex users can upgrade or replace their device with the X2 Mini through the company’s community program. Nothing has been said about the global upgrade program yet. The Apex is also the MAX+ 395 handheld.

Previous teaser details also mentioned micro-switch buttons, capacitive joysticks with RGB lighting, two-stage triggers and an 85 Wh battery.
