NVIDIA responds to ShinyHunters GeForce NOW breach claim

Last week there was a claim that a known hacking group, “ShinyHunters,” had breached NVIDIA GeForce NOW services. Upon learning about this incident, we decided to ask directly whether this is in fact true. We have just received a statement that confirms the breach, but its scope is smaller than initially thought.
Armenian partner affected
NVIDIA has confirmed that the recent GeForce NOW breach claim involved a third-party partner, not NVIDIA-operated services. The company provided the statement today to VideoCardz. The group claimed it had obtained GeForce NOW-related user records, but NVIDIA had not issued a public response at the time of the original report.
“Our investigation found no impact to NVIDIA-operated services. The issue is limited to systems run by a third-party GeForce NOW Alliance partner based in Armenia. We are working closely with the partner to support their investigation and resolution. Impacted users will be notified by GFN.am.”
— NVIDIA to VideoCardz
NVIDIA now says its own GeForce NOW systems were not impacted. According to the company, the issue was limited to systems operated by a GeForce NOW Alliance partner based in Armenia. GeForce NOW is offered in many regions through local Alliance partners, which operate their own regional services.
This means the breach does not appear to affect the global NVIDIA-operated GeForce NOW service. Users connected to the Armenian partner service should watch for notifications from GFN.am and be cautious of phishing emails using NVIDIA or GeForce NOW branding.
