AMD has yet another 8 Zen5 CPU

AMD appears to have another Ryzen PRO 9000 desktop processor in preparation. The Ryzen 7 PRO 9755 has now appeared in the PassMark database as an 8-core and 16-thread CPU. This is a previously unseen model name, positioned above the Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 that is already listed by AMD.

According to the PassMark entry, the Ryzen 7 PRO 9755 has 8MB of L2 cache and 32MB of L3 cache. This gives the CPU 40MB of combined L2 and L3 cache, the same cache configuration as the Ryzen 7 PRO 9745. PassMark does not currently list the base or boost clocks for the 9755.

The existing Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 is an AM5 desktop processor based on Zen 5. AMD lists that chip with 8 cores, 16 threads, a 3.8 GHz base clock, up to 5.4 GHz boost, 8MB of L2 cache, 32MB of L3 cache and a 65W default TDP. The new 9755 entry therefore looks like a closely related SKU rather than a larger configuration change. We can only tell you that the CPU was tied to Lenovo system, so unless there are no changes to specs, perhaps it’s just a new version for Lenovo specifically.

In PassMark, the Ryzen 7 PRO 9755 scores 38,100 points in CPU Mark and 4,604 points in the single-thread test. The Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 is listed at 37,082 points and 4,609 points respectively. This puts the new SKU around 2.7% ahead in the multi-threaded score, while single-thread performance is effectively unchanged.

It appears that AMD is preparing to announce a new wave of Ryzen PRO CPUs. Over the last few weeks we have also seen PRO 9960X3D, and PRO 435G. Here’s an update list of all Zen5-based PRO SKUs.
