Microsoft shows consistent Xbox UI across consoles, handhelds, PC and cloud

The updated UI was shown during Microsoft’s Xbox keynote at GDC 2026 (yes, from last month). Until now there wasn’t better quality material that would show it in greater detail. However, The Verge reported today that a newly published video gives a clearer look at the interface that was previously difficult to see from event footage. Jason Ronald, VP of Next Generation at Xbox, said Microsoft is working to reduce fragmentation across Xbox experiences on different devices.
The interface does not appear to be a full redesign. The console dashboard still looks close to the current Xbox Home layout, but there are visible changes. The user profile is shown in the top-right corner, while the lower section appears to show three ad slots instead of four.

The same general layout is shown on a handheld device. The Xbox PC app shown in the video appears closer to the newer Xbox Cloud Gaming interface, with a rounded design, updated animations and a library-focused layout. Microsoft has not announced this as a final Xbox dashboard update.
No Project Helix (Xbox Next) updates today
Those who expect updates on Project Helix today (Xbox Dev Update) will be disappointed to know that there were no updates planned. Jason Ronald mentioned before the keynote that Microsoft will share more details later this year.
