AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT cards now sell below MSRP in China

Radeon RX 7650 GRE, RX 9060 XT and RX 9070 XT hit lower channel prices in China

AMD Radeon graphics cards are reportedly facing price inversion in China, with several key models now selling below channel purchase cost. According to Channel Gate, channel distributors are losing money on some Radeon cards instead of clearing them at a profit.

The source lists the Radeon RX 7650 GRE at around 1,740 RMB including tax, with some third-party e-commerce channels lowering the effective price to between 1,579.5 and 1,650 RMB after promotions. The Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB, which source says is mainly intended for system integrators, is listed at around 2,250 RMB (MSRP 2499 RMB). The Radeon RX 9070 XT is said to be trading at around 4,950 RMB including tax (official MSRP is 4999 RMB)

Whether it is the entry-level 7650 GRE, the mid-to-high-end 9060 XT, or the flagship-positioned 9070 XT, AMD graphics cards are currently generally in a ‘selling means losing money’ situation.

The report links the issue to a weak DIY hardware market in China. BoardChannels claims that lower demand has left distributors with inventory pressure, while retail pricing has continued to fall. This has pushed sellers into lower pricing to clear stock and recover cash.

Of course, the Chinese GPU market situation is much different from the US and European markets, where finding these cards at MSRP is close to a miracle. However, if we learned anything from the past, it is that the Chinese market situation is often reflected elsewhere at some point in the future, so we expect some price drops later.

Also let’s remind our readers, AMD promised to “encourage” board partners to sell its RX 9070 XT cards at MSRP more than a year ago, but we are yet to see that promise fulfilled (globally). It looks like China is already there.
