AMD Ryzen PRO 9000 expands with 3D V-Cache SKUs: Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D and Ryzen 7 PRO 9755X3D

AMD has expanded its Ryzen PRO 9000 desktop workstation lineup with six new Zen 5 processors. The list now includes Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D, Ryzen 9 PRO 9965, Ryzen 9 PRO 9955, Ryzen 7 PRO 9755X3D, Ryzen 7 PRO 9755 and Ryzen 5 PRO 9655.
This is a larger update than the first Ryzen PRO 9000 release. We previously covered the original three models, Ryzen 9 PRO 9945, Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 and Ryzen 5 PRO 9645, which were all 65W parts. The new models raise the lineup to 16 cores and introduce 120W and 170W options.
The Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D is the new top model. It has 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, a boost clock up to 5.5 GHz, 128MB of L3 cache with 3D V-Cache and a 170W TDP. Basically, this is the PRO-system version of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, although AMD uses a different name to separate it from the consumer desktop SKU.
With configurations ranging from six to 16 high-performance cores and power envelopes spanning 65 watts to 170 watts, these processors will provide a scalable foundation for compact desktop systems to full-scale tower workstation systems.

AMD also lists a non-X3D Ryzen 9 PRO 9965 with 16 cores, 64MB of L3 cache and the same 170W TDP. The Ryzen 9 PRO 9955 is a 12-core, 24-thread model with 64MB of L3 cache and a 120W TDP. The Ryzen 7 PRO 9755X3D brings 3D V-Cache to the 8-core PRO tier with 96MB of L3 cache and a 120W TDP.
The remaining two models are the Ryzen 7 PRO 9755 and Ryzen 5 PRO 9655. Both are 120W parts with 32MB of L3 cache. This gives AMD a higher-power PRO tier above the existing 65W Ryzen PRO 9945, 9745 and 9645 models.
The naming is the confusing part. Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D is not a new consumer Ryzen 9 SKU and it is not a Threadripper PRO part. It is an AM5 Ryzen PRO processor for managed desktop and workstation systems, with AMD PRO features and platform support aimed at business deployments.
