Apple TV sees another departure from its international content team

Just weeks after Oliver Jones left Apple TV for Amazon, another executive focused on international content is leaving the company. Here are the details.

A few weeks ago, THR reported that Oliver Jones, an Apple TV executive who worked on shows including , , and over the past six years, was leaving for Amazon MGM Studios, where he’d lead U.K. scripted content.

Now, reports that Morgan Wandell, Apple TV’s Head of International Development, is also departing. Rather than going to a competitor, Wandell is launching his own production company, called Kismet.

From Deadline :

Based in Los Angeles, Kismet will be developing and producing premium scripted series aimed at the global marketplace by finding and nurturing projects and voices that can travel through high-end culturally rooted storytelling.

Interestingly, Wandell joined Apple in 2017 , after leading the development of original content for international audiences at Amazon Studios, and ABC Studios before that.

Since then, he worked on several Apple TV series, including , , , , , and .

Deadline says that with Wandell’s departure, Apple TV’s Head of Programming and Domestic Development, Matt Cherniss, will take over the shows previously under Wandell. Cherniss already oversaw series including , , , and .

Meanwhile, Apple TV’s Creative Director for Europe, Jay Hunt, will expand her role to oversee international and local-language originals. Hunt is currently in charge of shows including and .
