V-Color launches DDR5-8000 1.1V RDIMM for Intel W890, claims 9600 MT/s OC on ASUS board

V-Color announces DDR5-8000 1.1V RDIMM for Intel W890 workstations

The new workstation memory targets Intel Xeon 6 systems with ECC RDIMM support, SK hynix DDR5 ICs and up to 256GB per module.

The company says the new lineup uses SK hynix DDR5 chips rated for JEDEC DDR5-8000 operation at 1.1V. This is aimed at Intel Xeon 6 workstation systems using the W890 chipset, where ECC Registered DIMM support is required for high-capacity professional builds.

According to V-color, the memory has reached up to 9600 MT/s in an eight-DIMM configuration with 64GB modules. The test platform used an ASUS Pro WS W890E-SAGE SE motherboard. The company calls this a world first for Intel W890, though this is an overclocked validation rather than a standard JEDEC profile.

The lineup covers 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB modules. v-color says it supports both four-DIMM and eight-DIMM configurations, giving workstation users options between higher frequency kits and larger memory capacity. The company lists AI model development, local inference, 3D rendering, simulation, virtualization and content production as target workloads.

The modules use DDR5 ECC RDIMM architecture and support Intel XMP profiles. v-color says the kits have been validated on ASUS Pro WS W890-SAGE and ASUS Pro WS W890E-SAGE SE motherboards. ASUS lists the W890E-SAGE SE with eight DDR5 ECC RDIMM slots, Intel Xeon 600 workstation CPU support and memory speeds up to 8800 MT/s in its public specification, so the 9600 MT/s result should be treated as an OC result.

V-color has not announced final pricing for the new DDR5-8000 1.1V RDIMM kits. The company says availability will go through its official stores, sales channels and selected global partners, with regional rollout details to follow. But just to give you some perspective, their 4x 32GB OC R-DIMM kit rated for 8800 MT/s costs $7199.
