ASUS lists ROG Crosshair 2006 with 20+2+2 power stages and Wi-Fi 7
Retro-styled AM5 board uses 20+2+2 power stages, PCIe 5.0, USB4 and a 2-inch OLED display
ASUS has officially listed the ROG Crosshair 2006, a new AM5 motherboard built for the 20th anniversary of Republic of Gamers. The board uses the AMD X870E chipset and brings back design elements from the first ROG Crosshair motherboard released in 2006, including a copper-colored heatsink layout, blue and white slots, and the older Project G logo.
This is also related to our earlier coverage of ASUS registering the ROG CROSSHAIR X870E EDITION 20 and ROG CROSSHAIR 2006 names. ASUS has now confirmed the second name as a retail product. The company also says the new board is based on the same foundation as the ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Hero, which was already part of ASUS’ 2026 AM5 lineup.

The ROG Crosshair 2006 uses an ATX form factor and supports AMD Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 desktop processors. ASUS lists a 20+2+2 power stage design, with 20 VCORE stages rated at 110A, two SoC stages rated at 110A and two miscellaneous stages rated at 80A. The board also includes dual 8-pin ProCool II CPU power connectors, MicroFine alloy chokes and 10K black metallic capacitors.

For memory, the board has four DDR5 DIMM slots with support for up to 256GB. ASUS claims support for up to DDR5-9600 MT/s, while the product page also mentions DDR5 tuning features such as NitroPath DRAM Technology, AEMP, DIMM Fit and DIMM Fit Pro. The company says NitroPath can increase memory frequency headroom by up to 400 MT/s and raise slot retention force by 57%.
Expansion includes two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and five onboard M.2 slots. ASUS lists two onboard PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots and three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots in its FAQ, although another section of the same page mentions three PCIe 5.0-ready M.2 slots. Connectivity includes two USB4 Type-C ports, two USB 20Gbps front-panel Type-C headers, 10GbE, 5GbE, Wi-Fi 7, HDMI, optical S/PDIF, two gold-plated audio jacks and four SATA 6Gb/s ports.
The board also includes a 2-inch LiveDash OLED display. It can show POST information, CPU frequency, temperatures, fan speeds, BIOS update status or custom monochrome animations in 256×64 format up to 100KB.
ASUS has not listed pricing or a release date yet, and the official article says availability details should come through local ROG representatives.
