Apple Is Now Desperate Enough To Bundle A Free AirPods Pro 3 With Apple Card Sign-Ups After Goldman Sachs’ Costly Exit

Apple is reportedly preparing to roll out one of its most ambitious sign-up incentives ever, one that might entail freebies worth a whopping $250, all for just signing up to an Apple Card next week.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly gearing up to give away AirPods Pro 3 - where each unit is worth as much as $249 - with each Apple Card sign-up at an eligible retail store next week.

For the benefit of those who might not be aware, the Apple Card debuted in 2019 in partnership with Mastercard and Goldman Sachs. The card offers an unlimited 2 percent cash back when used with Apple Pay, or an unlimited 3 percent cash back when used at Apple's partner merchants.

Moreover, the card entails no foreign transaction fees, no late fees, and no returned payment fees, while offering a 0 percent financing APR on Apple's products.

However, these cashbacks reportedly incurred huge losses for Goldman Sachs, especially when combined with the card's high-than-average delinquency rates and the attendant regulatory requirement to front-load reserves, which then prompted Apple to ink a deal with JP Morgan instead.

Do note that the card's transition from a Goldman Sachs-led banking regime towards one that is headed by JP Morgan will take until the beginning of 2028 to conclude.

In the meantime, Apple really does want to substantially boost the take-up rate for its bespoke payment card, as evidenced by its latest freebie-laden incentive.
