Thermal Grizzly WireView Pro II Wired adds GPU power cable for cards with limited adapter clearance, including Founders Edition
Thermal Grizzly has listed a new WireView Pro II GPU variant, and this one should solve the main compatibility problem with the original version. The new “Wired” model is not plugged directly into the graphics card. Instead, it uses a fixed 40 cm 12V-2×6 cable between the GPU and the monitoring unit.
That should make it compatible with more graphics cards, including NVIDIA Founders Edition models. The original WireView Pro II was already available in Normal and Reversed layouts, but it still depended on physical clearance around the GPU connector. This version can be mounted elsewhere inside the case with the included brackets.
Per-pin monitoring is still the main feature
The WireView Pro II Wired keeps the main feature set from the regular Pro II model. It can monitor current per individual conductor of the 12V-2×6 connector, not just total power draw. Thermal Grizzly says this can help detect load distribution issues or possible contact problems before they cause damage.
The device also tracks voltage, temperature and total power consumption. If a configured threshold is exceeded, it can show a warning on the TFT-IPS display and trigger an audible alarm. With the included splitter cable, users can also configure an automatic shutdown.
The Wired model has a CNC-machined aluminum housing, a 320×170 TFT-IPS display and a semi-passive 30 mm fan. It is listed in black and white, with a pre-order price of $175.38 . Thermal Grizzly currently lists a 5 to 6 week delivery time. The regular WireView Pro II starts at $140.28, so this version costs around $35 more.
