Intel’s Wildcat Lake Hits $449 In CHUWI Unibook Laptop, Beating MacBook Neo On Ports, Battery, And Screen Size

Intel's Wildcat Lake "Core Series 3" laptops are now rolling out, and CHUWI has released its Unibook, featuring a $449 price that challenges the MacBook Neo.

Earlier today, we saw the first Intel Wildcat Lake "Core Series 3" laptops hit retail shelves . These laptops feature various price points ranging from sub-$600 to $650. Compared to the MacBook Neo, Intel's Wildcat Lake has some advantages, such as the x86 SoC, bigger battery, expandable storage, more IO, and twice as much memory.

Now, CHUWI has unveiled its latest Unibook laptop, which features the entry-level . This entry-level laptop is priced at just $449 US, a $150 US reduction versus the MacBook Neo, and while it does feature a Core 3-tier chip, the specs are more than enough for all-day use cases.

So, looking at the specifications, the Intel Core 3 304 is an entry-level Wildcat Lake chip with 5 cores based on a 1 P-Core and 4 LPE-Core configuration. It features 5 threads, a max boost clock of 4.3 GHz, 6 MB of cache, and a TDP of up to 35W. The chip comes with just one Xe3 iGPU core, which means that you won't be able to do much in terms of gaming, but some older titles & eSports games will be manageable on lower settings.

The Unibook laptop also features 8 GB of LPDDR5X-7467 memory, which is the same capacity as the Neo, and a 256 GB SSD (PCIe 3.0). So the storage and memory specs match the Neo, but at a 25% lower price point. Other features include an expandable Micro SD card, dual USB Type-C ports, and three USB-A ports (2x 3.2 Gen1 / 1x 2.0). The display on the laptop is a 100% sRGB compliant 14" IPS panel, which supports a max resolution of 1920x1200 at 60Hz.

We hope that CHUWI offers the Unibook in some interesting color options, too, like the Neo. But overall, the Unibook is another Wildcat Lake that should offer strong competition against the Neo, and we can't wait to see benchmarks of it against the MacBook competitor.
