The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt turns 11 years old today

The Witcher 3 turns 11 as CD Projekt prepares more Witcher projects

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released on May 19, 2015, meaning CD Projekt’s RPG is now 11 years old. The game launched on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before later reaching Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The game remains one of CD Projekt’s largest releases. Last year, the company said The Witcher 3 had exceeded 60 million copies sold over its first decade, with cumulative revenue of 2.4 billion PLN.

For PC players, The Witcher 3 also became a more modern GPU workload after its next-gen update. In 2022, when CD Projekt added ray-traced global illumination, Ultra+ settings, AMD FSR 2, NVIDIA DLSS and other graphics changes.

The game is still not fully finished from an update point of view. CD Projekt previously confirmed cross-platform mod support for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, although the rollout was moved to 2026. The feature is expected to use mod.io and bring a curated selection of mods to console players.

The anniversary also arrives while CD Projekt continues work on the next Witcher game. The Witcher 4 is now in production and uses Unreal Engine 5, with Ciri as the main character. The original Witcher game is also being remade by Fool’s Theory under CD Projekt’s supervision.
