RTX 5090 PC uses three Raspberry Pi 5 boards to run its GIF wall

A Reddit user has built what may be one of the most distracting gaming PCs posted this year. The system combines an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, an MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Ventus 3X OC, and more than 15,000 GIFs playing across multiple screens inside the case.

RGB was apparently not enough

The builder says the project started with Lian Li screen fans, but the idea expanded into a larger display setup. The finished build contains enough edited GIF content to run for 13.5 hours before every tile has played from start to finish.

The project also required around 200 hours of video editing . Each GIF was adjusted for aspect ratio, speed, looping, and clip length. At that point, it is less of a PC build and more of a part-time media archive with PCIe slots.

The system uses five 5-inch WOWNOVA displays, four 8.8-inch WOWNOVA displays, one 14.5-inch 4K portable monitor, one 12.7-inch stretched bar display, and two 14-inch 4K stretched bar displays. Three Raspberry Pi 5 boards handle the larger screens, while the smaller displays play video from microSD cards. The desktop PC itself does not render the GIF wall, which is probably the only reasonable part of this entire setup. Yet, this would definitely put RTX 5090 to some actual ‘video’ work.

The build includes a Ryzen 9 9950X3D, MSI X870E Carbon WiFi motherboard, 96GB of DDR5 memory, a Samsung 9100 Pro 4TB SSD, and an RTX 5090. Cooling is handled by multiple Noctua fans and a push-pull radiator setup, because even the memes need airflow. The money was clearly not an issue, the lack of taste, however…

The creator says the build is “absolutely not practical whatsoever” and does not recommend this type of project to others. That may be the most useful buying advice here. For everyone else, this is what happens when a gaming PC becomes a display cabinet, a meme wall, and a stress test for cable management at the same time.
