CDPR changes internal process for The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2
The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 use stricter development checks,
CD Projekt Red says it has changed how internal documentation is handled during development of its next major RPGs. According to GamesRadar, CDPR technical writers Jarosław Ruciński and Adrian Fulneczek discussed the issue during a Digital Dragons panel. The session was titled “Old Docs Die Hard” and focused on lessons learned during and after development of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
The studio reportedly said its older projects did not preserve enough technical knowledge. This became a problem when work started on The Witcher Remake, because the team had little technical documentation from the original game.
Documentation is now part of development gates
Cyberpunk 2077 also created a different problem. CDPR had more than 8,000 documentation pages, but maintaining them reportedly became a low priority. The situation was made worse when documents for Phantom Liberty were split between cloud and internal Confluence instances.

CDPR says it has changed this process for The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. Fulneczek said: “The future looks really promising for us. We learned our lesson.” The studio now treats documentation as part of each development gate. Fulneczek added that “part of the requirements to pass that gate is the documentation, which wasn’t the case before.”
The new process is also meant to help teams share technical knowledge across projects. Ruciński said knowledge is no longer locked behind team permissions. If one team finds a fix or tool that works, other CDPR teams can use it instead of solving the same problem again.
Both The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 still have no release dates. Based on what CD Projekt Red said, they should arrive when they are ready, not when Keanu Reeves announces them.
