MSI rolls out AGESA 1.3.0.1 BIOS for AM5 motherboards

MSI has started rolling out new AM5 BIOS files based on AMD AGESA ComboAm5 1.3.0.1. The update is now listed for boards such as MEG X870E ACE MAX, MEG X870E GODLIKE, PRO B850-VC WIFI, PRO B840-VC WIFI, PRO B840-P WIFI, MAG B850 TOMAHAWK WIFI and MAG B650M MORTAR . The most interesting line in the changelog is not CPU support. MSI says the new BIOS brings better compatibility with some older graphics cards.

I will be honest with you, I’m not sure what compatibility issue they are refering to because I couldn’t find anything specific. Perhaps this is about some ancient GPUs or a very rare problem reported by their users directly. However, if you know what this is about, let us know.

The MEG X870E ACE MAX changelog only mentioning AGESA ComboAm5 1.3.0.1 and the older GPU compatibility change. Other MSI boards add more fixes. The PRO B850-VC WIFI, PRO B840-VC WIFI and PRO B840-P WIFI pages mention a Wake-on-LAN issue where the system could auto power on when pressing the power button during POST. The MAG B850 TOMAHAWK WIFI and MAG B650M MORTAR pages mention a fix for the AC Power Loss function.

AGESA 1.3.0.1 not just from MSI

Other motherboard vendors already have AGESA 1.3.0.1 BIOS files too, but they do not all list the same fixes. ASRock has posted ComboAM5 PI 1.3.0.1 for many AM5 models including X870 Nova WiFi, X870E Taichi, X870E Taichi Lite, X870 Steel Legend WiFi, X670E PG Lightning, B850 Steel Legend WiFi, B850 Pro RS, B650 Pro RS and several A620 boards.

Gigabyte lists the same AGESA branch for X870E AORUS MASTER X3D ICE, X870E AORUS PRO ICE, B650M S2H, B650E AORUS ELITE X AX ICE, B650 UD AX and B650 GAMING X AX. Its changelog adds “New memory profile support.” ASUS also has AGESA 1.3.0.1 BIOS builds for ROG Crosshair and ROG Strix boards, with notes for Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition support and new Crosshair Tweak options on selected models.
