NVIDIA App completes the transition of features from GeForce Control Panel
NVIDIA is retiring the classic NVIDIA Control Panel for GeForce Game Ready and Studio Drivers after 20 years.
The company says all actively supported Control Panel features for GeForce users have now been moved to the NVIDIA app. The change follows a long migration that started when NVIDIA introduced its unified app as a replacement for GeForce Experience and part of the classic Control Panel.
Existing Control Panel installs will remain on users’ systems. NVIDIA says the old panel will only disappear after a clean driver installation. Users who still need it can continue to download it from the Microsoft Store, but NVIDIA will no longer add new features, fixes, or other changes.
After 20 years of dedicated service, the classic NVIDIA Control Panel is officially retiring for Game Ready and Studio Drivers. For NVIDIA RTX PRO users, the NVIDIA Control Panel will continue to be supported until we have migrated professional features to the NVIDIA app.
RTX PRO users are not affected yet
The retirement currently applies to Game Ready and Studio Drivers. NVIDIA RTX PRO users will continue to receive Control Panel support until the company moves professional features to the NVIDIA app.
For GeForce users, NVIDIA says the app now includes the modern functionality previously available through Control Panel. The Graphics > Program Settings section in the NVIDIA app replaces the old 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings page.

This was already expected. We covered lots of NVIDIA’s migration work, including the August 2025 NVIDIA App update (which was among the largest to date) that moved more 3D settings, multi-monitor options, Surround support, Advanced Optimus controls and offline access into the new client. NVIDIA had also introduced the app in 2024 as a unified replacement for GeForce Experience, RTX apps and parts of the classic Control Panel.
The classic panel is therefore not being removed from every system overnight. It is being moved into maintenance mode for GeForce users. For new driver installations, NVIDIA clearly wants the app to be the default place for driver updates, per-game settings, DLSS overrides, display controls, overlays and GPU tuning.
