The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past announced for PC and current-gen consoles
The Witcher 3 is getting a third expansion in 2027, 12 years after launch
CD PROJEKT RED has announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, a third expansion for its 2015 RPG. The expansion will launch in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S .
The studio says Songs of the Past will bring players back to Geralt of Rivia for another adventure. The expansion is being co-developed with Fool’s Theory, a Polish studio that includes developers who worked on The Witcher 3. CD PROJEKT RED says more information will be shared in late summer 2026.

Geralt returns, but PC requirements are changing
The announcement also comes with a major PC requirements update. Starting with the next update, The Witcher 3 will require Windows 11, an SSD and DirectX 12. CD PROJEKT RED says the same Windows 11 requirement will also apply to Cyberpunk 2077 after Microsoft ends Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025.
The new minimum requirements are:
- CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8400
- GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB
- VRAM : 6GB
- RAM : 12GB
- Storage : 70GB SSD
- OS : 64-bit Windows 11
- API : DirectX 12
This means CD PROJEKT RED is dropping support for older CPUs, older GPUs, Windows 10, mechanical hard drives and the DirectX 11 path. The company says only processors and graphics cards with Windows 11 gaming driver support will be supported going forward. Players who cannot meet the new requirements will be able to revert to an older version of the game.
The Witcher 3 launched in 2015 and previously received two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Songs of the Past will make it the game’s third expansion, arriving roughly 12 years after the base game.
