Valve raises Steam Deck OLED prices by up to $300

Valve increases Steam Deck OLED pricing amid memory and storage shortages

Steam Deck OLED now starts at $789.

Valve has raised Steam Deck OLED pricing in the United States. The official Steam Deck OLED page now lists the handheld as starting at $789, while the 1TB version is shown at $949.

The 512GB OLED model increased from $549 to $789. The 1TB OLED model increased from $649 to $949. This means the two remaining OLED models are now $240 and $300 pricier than their original launch prices. Valve has not published a separate public announcement for this price change at the time of writing.

In February, Valve added a notice saying the handheld could be out of stock in some regions due to memory and storage shortages. We covered that update at the time, along with Valve’s warning that the same component situation was also affecting Steam Machine and Steam Frame plans.

The price change arrives as Valve is preparing new Steam hardware. Steam Machine still has no confirmed price, and Valve has already said memory and storage shortages created challenges for its launch schedule. With Steam Deck OLED now selling at a higher price, the final Steam Machine pricing may also be affected.

The Steam Deck OLED launched in 2023 at $549 for the 512GB version and $649 for the 1TB version. The older 256GB LCD model is no longer in production, leaving OLED as Valve’s current handheld option through the Steam store.
