GIGABYTE adds one-DIMM DDR5 boost for Z890 and B860 motherboards

GIGABYTE D5 Single Boost tunes one DDR5 module up to 8400 MT/s

GIGABYTE has introduced D5 Single Boost, a new BIOS-level memory tuning feature for systems using a single DDR5 memory module. The feature is advertised for GIGABYTE Z890 and B860 series motherboards and requires a BIOS update.

The company says D5 Single Boost detects Hynix M-Die modules and applies automatic overclocking settings. This includes timing and voltage adjustments handled by what GIGABYTE calls an Adaptive BIOS Tuning Engine. According to GIGABYTE, the feature can push a single DDR5 module up to 8400 MT/s.

The marketing claim is that a single tuned DIMM can deliver speeds comparable to conventional dual-channel XMP setups. GIGABYTE also claims up to 10% better gaming performance across tested titles and benchmarks, but it has not shared a full benchmark list.

Maximum Performance. Minimum Spend.

Enhanced with GIGABYTE’s exclusive D5 Bionic Corsa technology — a unified AI-driven system integrating PCB design, software tuning, and BIOS optimization — D5 Single Boost pushes single-DIMM performance to new heights. Memory overclocking speeds reach up to 8400 MT/s from a single module, on par with standard dual-channel XMP setups, while gaming performance sees a validated 10% uplift across AAA titles and competitive benchmarks in frame rates, load times, and overall responsiveness

This is not a new DDR5 memory standard. It is an automatic tuning profile for single-DIMM systems. A single DDR5 UDIMM still runs on a narrower memory bus than a dual-channel two-DIMM setup, so it cannot match dual-channel memory in raw bandwidth at the same speed.

D5 Single Boost builds on GIGABYTE’s existing D5 Bionic Corsa memory tuning stack. The company already promoted this feature with its Z890 launch, where it claimed DDR5 XMP support at 9500 MT/s and above.

GIGABYTE has not provided a per-model support list for D5 Single Boost. The press release only says that the feature is supported on Z890 and B860 series motherboards. The related product list currently includes several Z890 models, such as Z890 AERO D, Z890 AERO G, Z890 AI TOP, Z890 AORUS ELITE DUO X and Z890 AORUS ELITE WIFI7.
