Valve is ready to welcome Steam Machine users with a new Welcome Tour
Valve appears to be preparing another step toward the Steam Machine launch. According to Brad Lynch, Valve has added the Steam Machine Welcome Tour to the Steam backend, including related setup assets.
This does not confirm a release date or price. However, it suggests that Valve is now preparing the first-run experience for the device. A Welcome Tour is typically shown during the first setup process, which means these files are unlikely to be placeholder entries only.
Welcome, Steam Machine users
The backend update includes references to welcome images that users will likely see during initial setup. Valve followed a similar path with the Steam Controller, where backend assets appeared only a few weeks before Valve confirmed the controller’s price and release date.
The Steam Controller is already available. Valve launched it earlier this month at $99 in the US and €99 in Europe, while Steam Machine and Steam Frame still do not have public pricing. The controller launch also moved through a reservation system in some regions, which may be a useful model if Steam Machine supply is limited at launch.
Still no release date
Meanwhile, Valve has just increased prices across the Steam Deck family , which does not improve expectations around Steam Machine pricing. At this point, few expect it to be cheap.
Valve announced Steam Machine in November 2025 as a compact SteamOS PC with a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 processor, RDNA 3 graphics with 28 Compute Units, 16GB of DDR5 memory, and 8GB of GDDR6 graphics memory.
