This is what I call a last-minute leak. One of our insiders provided preliminary specifications for the N1 series, confirming that the full N1X uses the same configuration as GB10 in DGX Spark. We have also learned about three other N1 chip variants. The standard N1 is entirely new and perhaps more interesting, as it may target a more affordable segment.

NVIDIA N1x

The N1X is listed with a 20 (10+10) CPU configuration, using Cortex-X925 and Cortex-A725 cores. The full configuration has 48 SMs, which equals 6144 CUDA cores.

There is also a 18 (9+9) variant tied to 40 SMs, or 5120 CUDA cores . Both N1X chips are designed for a 45W to 80W power envelope. This puts them in the same range as high-end CPUs for gaming laptops, except here it refers to the CPU/GPU package rather than the CPU alone. The PCIe specification includes 12 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 5 PCIe 4.0 lanes.

The N1x will support up to 128GB LPDDR5X memory through 16 channels, but the base config may have 16GB as well.

NVIDIA N1

The N1 non-X has two configurations as well. One has 12 (8+4) CPU cores, while the other has 10 (7+3) . The former is paired with 20 SMs, or 2560 CUDA cores, while the latter has 16 SMs, or 2048 CUDA cores. This variant has 8 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 3 PCIe 4.0 lanes. NVIDIA states that N1X will support up to three M.2 drives, while N1 will support up to two.

The N1 is also a lower-power chip, with an 18W to 45W power envelope. In terms of memory, the N1 has 8 channels and 8GB to 64GB support.

I only agreed to share this after seeing the documents, and those were provided. However, one of the slides was dated 2024, which shows how long NVIDIA has been working on this product. The embargo lifts tomorrow, when full specifications should hopefully be confirmed. Perhaps not all variants will be announced, and perhaps not all of them will be available in laptops, but this was the plan.
