LG Display Gaming OLED roadmap adds 27-inch 5K and brighter HDR panels
LG Display has announced a new Gaming OLED roadshow in Taipei, scheduled for June 4 to June 10. The company says it will show its latest monitor panels to around 20 global gaming monitor manufacturers during the event.
VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 1000
The main part of the roadmap is a new Gaming OLED panel that LG Display says reaches the level of the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 standard. The panel is rated for up to 2,000 nits peak brightness , which is above the 1,500-nit peak level used by current LG Display-based 4th Gen Tandem OLED monitors.
Moreover, LG Display will present a next-generation zone featuring panels such as a Gaming OLED that reaches the level of the DisplayHDR True Black 1000 standard set by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA), delivering accurate color reproduction as intended by content creators. The panel reaches peak brightness of 2,000 nits, offering highly vivid visuals based on enhanced contrast.
27-inch 5K OLED
LG Display is also preparing a 27-inch 5K OLED panel with 220 PPI. The company says the panel is designed for tasks such as graphic design and video editing, with print-level detail and reduced color fringing. This is still a panel announcement, not a finished retail monitor.
The company will also show RGB Stripe OLED technology. This subpixel layout uses red, green and blue subpixels in a linear stripe arrangement, which LG Display says improves text clarity and reduces color fringing when viewed up close. The company says the panel supports 240Hz refresh rate.
LG Display’s roadmap also includes Black Frame Insertion and DFR 2.0. BFI inserts black frames to reduce motion blur, while DFR allows switching between high-refresh-rate and high-resolution modes. Similar dual-mode features already appear in current OLED gaming monitors, but LG Display is now presenting the next version for future panels.
The company will also show its 39-inch 5K2K ultrawide OLED panel. This panel is already used in current UltraGear evo models, including the 39GX950B. LG Display says its gaming OLED panel lineup now covers 20-inch to 40-inch sizes.
