Why does this card even exist?
MSI is adding a new GeForce RTX 5090 model to its high-end SUPRIM lineup. According to MSI, SUPRIM cards are the company’s highest-clocked air-cooled models. The new SUPRIM Safeguard keeps that positioning but adds extra features aimed at extreme overclockers. These include real-time power monitoring, warning alerts and advanced eFuse protection.
The card appears to extend MSI’s recent focus on 12V-2×6 power monitoring. MSI already introduced GPU Safeguard+ for its MPG Ai TS power supplies. That system monitors current on each 12V-2×6 pin and can alert the user when it detects current imbalance or overload.

MSI added GPU Safeguard+ handling to Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 2. The software can read connector alarm states from supported MSI power supplies and apply a lower GPU power profile when a fault is detected. On NVIDIA GPUs, the default emergency profile targets a 75% power limit.
The company has not listed pricing or availability for the GeForce RTX 5090 32G SUPRIM Safeguard. MSI has also not published the full specification table yet, so boost clocks, board power and final retail details are still missing.
