3DMark’s next flagship GPU test will include native 4K path tracing
Thermal Grizzly shows teaser for future 3DMark GPU test.

ComputerBase published a video from Computex showing the benchmark running at the Thermal Grizzly booth. According to the video description, Thermal Grizzly is the first sponsor of the new 3DMark benchmark and is showing the teaser exclusively at its booth in Taipei.
The teaser calls it an “upcoming flagship ultra-high-end path tracing benchmark.” The same slide confirms tests using AI upscaling and frame generation, along with a native 4K mode. This means the benchmark will not focus only on raw rendering performance, but also on vendor-specific or API-level reconstruction and generated-frame workloads.

The footage itself is marked as “work in progress.” The lower banner calls it a “next gen ray-tracing test,” while the scene shows a sci-fi corridor with reflective surfaces and bright direct lighting. There are no scores, release date, API details, GPU requirements or supported upscaling technologies mentioned in the teaser.
Not the first test for ray-tracing
UL already offers benchmarks with ray-tracing tests. The 3DMark Speed Way is listed as a DirectX 12 Ultimate benchmark for high-end gaming PCs, using DXR 1.1, ray-traced global illumination and ray-traced reflections at 2560×1440. Port Royal is also a 2560×1440 ray-tracing benchmark for GPUs with DirectX Raytracing support. A bit more recently, 3DMark launched a native 4K raster benchmark in Steel Nomad, which replaced Time Spy as the heavier non-ray-traced test.
UL has not shared any press release about this demo, nor do we hve any info when the new benchmark would be available.
