Radeon RX 9060 XT reaches 4.64 GHz with AMD internal OC tools

GPU frequency records are quite rare these days, but the Radeon RX 9060 XT has now appeared near the top again. Overclocker Bill “Sampson” Alverson has pushed an engineering sample of AMD’s mid-range RDNA 4 GPU to 4643 MHz under liquid nitrogen cooling.
The result is not enough to beat the previous 4.769 GHz run achieved with the same GPU family by Sampson and Splave. However, it is reportedly the second-highest discrete GPU frequency recorded so far. It is also another example of how well the Radeon RX 9060 XT can scale when power, voltage and temperature limits are removed.
You can’t achieve similar results
The card used for this run was reportedly an engineering sample, and the screenshots show custom AMD internal software for LN2 overclocking. One visible command refers to “L1N2control.exe,” with settings for 4650 MHz and 1610 mV.
Retail overclockers do not have access to the same software, firmware or voltage controls. This makes direct competition difficult, because the result depends on hardware and tools that are not available to normal users or most competitive overclockers.

Hopefully we are not entering the era where only manufacturers can overclock their cards moving on. Modern GPUs have strict voltage and power limits in public software. The highest results often require vendor access, modified firmware or internal utilities.
At 4643 MHz, this engineering sample was running about 48% above AMD’s listed boost clock. That is far outside retail conditions, but it shows the frequency headroom of the Navi 44-class design when normal limits are bypassed.
