RPCS3 confirms AMD 26.6.1 fixes shader compilation bug

Unlisted fix for the PS3 emulator

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1 includes an unlisted fix for RPCS3, the PlayStation 3 emulator. According to the RPCS3 team, the driver resolves a shader compilation issue affecting Radeon GPUs based on RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 architectures.

The problem reportedly appeared with Adrenalin 26.3.1 and remained present until the new 26.6.1 release. AMD published the 26.3.1 driver on March 19, 2026, while 26.6.1 was posted on June 2, 2026.

AMD’s official 26.6.1 release notes do not mention RPCS3 or shader compilation changes. The listed updates include game support for “F1 25: 2026 Season Pack” and “World of Tanks: HEAT,” along with fixes for Subnautica 2, Marvel Rivals, Enshrouded and Zero RPM mode behavior on Radeon RX 9000 series cards.

AMD Adrenalin driver 26.6.1 fixes a severe shader compilation issue that impacted RDNA3 and RDNA4 GPUs since driver 26.3.1.

This means RPCS3 users on Windows with Radeon RX 7000 or Radeon RX 9000 graphics cards should update to Adrenalin 26.6.1. The fix may be relevant for shader compilation behavior in the emulator, which can affect startup behavior, cache generation or rendering depending on the title and configuration.
