MaxSun to launch MoDT (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards with Intel Core 3 series
That was faster than expected. Intel’s new mobile CPUs are coming to desktop-style boards. MaxSun has shown two new MoDT motherboards based on Intel Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake processors . These are mobile chips mounted directly on desktop motherboards, rather than socketed desktop CPUs.
The boards were shown at Computex 2026. According to Wccftech, the higher-end model is called SK-PTLNAS and uses Intel Core Ultra Series 3 “Panther Lake” processors. The board is designed for NAS systems , but it follows the ATX form factor and can be installed in a standard desktop case.

The SK-PTLNAS was displayed with a Core Ultra 7 356H processor . MaxSun reportedly said the board can scale up to the Core Ultra X9 388H. The board supports up to 128GB of DDR5 memory through two SO-DIMM slots and uses a 6+4 phase VRM design. Power is supplied through a single 8-pin connector.
The board also includes one full-length PCIe Gen5 x16 slot and five M.2 SSD slots. The storage layout reportedly includes two PCIe Gen5 x2 slots, two PCIe Gen4 x1 slots and one PCIe Gen4 x2 slot. MaxSun also added three Mini SAS ports, 10GbE and 2.5GbE networking, dual USB-C 40Gbps ports and onboard debug features.
Wildcat Lake gets a smaller board too
MaxSun also showed an mATX MoDT board based on Intel Core Series 3 “Wildcat Lake” processors. This design targets lower-power systems and supports a 28W TDP. It has one DDR5 SO-DIMM slot with support for up to 32GB of memory.

The Wildcat Lake board uses a 4+2 phase VRM and is powered through a 12V DC jack. Storage support is limited to one PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 slot and one SATA III port. Rear I/O includes two USB 3.2 Gen1 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, while internal headers add one USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port and three USB 2.0 ports.
This is not MaxSun’s first MoDT lineup. We recently covered the company’s Core 200H boards with Raptor Lake mobile CPUs, which were promoted as compact options for SFF systems, workstations, edge systems and lower-cost desktop builds. The new Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake models move the same idea to Intel’s latest mobile platforms.
