Following the successful release of Resident Evil Requiem earlier this year, the beloved survival-horror series by CAPCOM will return in 2027 on PC , PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X|S , and Nintendo Switch 2 with Resident Evil Veronica , a remake of the classic entry in the series originally released on the SEGA Dreamcast back in 2000 .
The rumored remake was announced during today's Summer Game Fest showcase just as previously rumored with a deceptive trailer that only showed the modern recreation of Claire Redfield at its very end, alongside the game's name , which will drop "Code" from the original . Unfortunately, a precise release date hasn't been announced outside of a generic 2027 , but going by how CAPCOM handled Resident Evil Requiem last year, the game is likely to release in early 2027 .
Unfortunately, the Resident Evil Veronica reveal trailer did not show much of the gameplay . Will it lean more towards horror or will CAPCOM attempt to spice the experience up and feature more action-oriented sequences like Resident Evil Requiem did, striking the best balance the series has seen in years ? If the game is launching in early 2027 , it likely won't take long to learn more about what the next entry will offer in a series that has quickly returned to the glory of the past following the release of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard .
