Cooler Master MWE Gold V4 brings GPU Shield to 12V-2×6 power
Cooler Master has now launched its MWE Gold V4 power supply series, after the first listings appeared in China last month. The new series is offered in 1000W, 850W and 750W variants. It supports ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 and includes a native 12V-2×6 connector for modern graphics cards.
We previously covered the MWE Gold V4 series when the first Chinese preorder listings appeared. At the time, the 850W model was listed for 659 RMB, around $97. The new US preorder listings are now live on Newegg, where the 850W model is priced at $139.99 and the 1000W model at $159.99.
GPU Shield for 12V-2×6 monitoring
The main feature of the MWE Gold V4 series is GPU Shield Intelligent Current Management. Cooler Master says this patent-pending system detects abnormal current, triggers active protection in real time and uses LED alerts to warn users about potential power issues.
This is aimed at systems using high-power graphics cards with 12V-2×6 power input. Cooler Master previously showed GPU Shield as both an integrated PSU-side feature and a separate adapter. The MWE Gold V4 now brings this protection directly to the power supply.
The series uses a fully modular design and carries an 80 Plus Gold rating. Cooler Master says the unit reaches more than 90% efficiency at typical loads in a 115V test environment. The PSU also uses a digital control IC for PFC and LLC tuning, a wave-type heatsink for internal airflow and protective coating for internal components.
Cooler Master says the 850W and 1000W models are available for preorder now. Shipping is scheduled to begin on June 12. The 750W model is listed as part of the series, although Cooler Master’s launch note only mentions Newegg preorders for the 850W and 1000W variants. All models are backed by a 10-year warranty.
