Microsoft’s next Surface tablet and laptop leak with Snapdragon X2 Elite
Consumer Surface tablet and laptop expected on June 16.
Surface Pro 13
According to WinFuture, the new Surface Pro 13 keeps the same chassis design as the current model. The tablet still has a built-in kickstand, relatively wide bezels and support for Microsoft’s detachable keyboard accessories.
The Surface Pro 13 is said to feature a 13-inch OLE D touchscreen and a 12-core Snapdragon X2 Elite processor. The chip is paired with an NPU rated at up to 80 TOPS, which Microsoft will use for Copilot+ PC features and local AI workloads.
The tablet is expected to offer up to 32GB of RAM and a user-replaceable PCIe 4.0 SSD with up to 1TB of storage. Microsoft reportedly claims up to 15.5 hours of local video playback. Color options are listed as Black, Platinum and Dune, while the blue option appears to be gone.

Surface Laptop 8
The same leak also covers the Surface Laptop 8 with Snapdragon X2 processors. These are consumer ARM models, while the Intel versions are already available for business customers.

The Surface Laptop 8 is expected in 13.8-inch and 15-inch sizes. WinFuture reports that Microsoft is preparing Snapdragon X2 Elite X2E-78-100 and Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-64-100 configurations. The Elite variant has 12 CPU cores, while the Plus model has 10 CPU cores. Both are listed with boost clocks up to 4.0 GHz.

The leaked specifications include up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and user-replaceable SSDs with 512GB, 1TB or 2TB capacities. The 13.8-inch model reportedly has a 54Wh battery and up to 20 hours of local video playback. The 15-inch version is listed with a 66Wh battery and up to 19 hours.
Microsoft is also expected to add a new Jade color option for the Surface Laptop 8. It will join Platinum, Gold/Dune and Black. The chassis design and port selection are reportedly unchanged.
Pricing has not leaked yet, but WinFuture expects higher prices due to storage costs. Both the Surface Pro 13 and Surface Laptop 8 with Snapdragon X2 processors are expected to be announced on June 16.
