Halo: Campaign Evolved remake launches July 28 from $49.99

Microsoft has confirmed the release date for Halo: Campaign Evolved, the Unreal Engine 5 remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign. The game launches globally on July 28, 2026 at 8 AM PDT, with early access starting July 23 for Premium Edition and Collector’s Edition owners.
New missions set before Halo: Combat Evolved
The game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, cloud gaming, Steam and PlayStation 5. It will also be available day one through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Xbox Play Anywhere support is included for console and PC users, while cross-play and cross-progression are supported across Xbox, Windows PC, Steam and PlayStation 5.
Halo: Campaign Evolved includes the original 10-mission campaign and Operation: METEORITE. This is a new three-mission story arc set one year before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. It follows Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson during a UNSC operation aboard a Covenant research vessel.

The new trailer shows combat alongside UNSC forces, Covenant-controlled locations, space combat and a new enemy variant called the Brute Berserker. Halo Studios also says the remake adds more weapons from across the Halo series, new enemy types and new locations. The new story content was developed with sci-fi author Troy Denning.

Microsoft is offering three editions. The Standard Edition costs $49.99, £49.99 or €59.99. The Premium Edition costs $69.99, £69.99 or €79.99 and adds up to five days of early access, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack and the Digital Story & Art Collection. The Collector’s Edition costs $199.99 or €199.99 and adds a 12-inch Dark Horse Master Chief statue, LED Cortana chip, Steelbook, concept art prints and a physical manual. Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions include a disc, while the Steam version includes a code.
