Intel Nova Lake-S CPU picture emerges, showing LGA-1954 package pads
Intel’s next desktop CPU appears in first package photo.
The first picture of an Intel Nova Lake-S processor has been shared online, giving us an early look at the LGA-1954 CPU package. The photo was posted by X user PoTAToOOOO, who labels the chip as “NovaLake-S LGA1954.”
The image appears to show the pad side of the processor. This is the contact surface used with Intel’s LGA socket, where the pins are placed on the motherboard socket instead of the CPU itself.
According to the leaker, the front side of the package looks almost identical to Alder Lake. This refers to the general package layout, not socket compatibility. Nova Lake-S is expected to move to LGA-1954, while Alder Lake used LGA-1700.

LGA-1954, another socket change from Intel
This follows recent leaks around Intel’s next desktop platform. We already saw the LGA-1954 socket itself, including a two-lever retention mechanism .
Current leaks point to Nova Lake-S launching on Intel 900-series motherboards. The platform is expected to include Z990, Z970, B960, Q970 and W980 chipsets. Intel has confirmed Nova Lake for 2026, but desktop retail availability may still move closer to CES 2027.
The new picture does not confirm specifications. It does, however, add another physical reference for Intel’s next desktop socket. With socket photos, motherboard listings and now a CPU package image, LGA-1954 is appearing in more places before Intel’s formal desktop platform announcement.
