ASUS GPU Tweak III update fixes game crashes when closing OSD

ASUS GPU Tweak III 2.1.2.1 focuses on OSD stability

Overlay stability gets another fix.

ASUS has released GPU Tweak III version 2.1.2.1 for Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit systems. The new package is listed at 107.58 MB and was published on June 8, 2026.

This release focuses on the OSD, which is ASUS’ in-game overlay for monitoring GPU and system data. According to the changelog, ASUS fixed a critical issue where closing the OSD could cause games to crash . The company also says OSD performance has been optimized for smoother gameplay.

ASUS’ most important software for GPUS

This follows several GPU Tweak III updates focused on monitoring, power safety and ROG-specific features. Version 2.1.1.7, released in late April, added an ROG Equalizer cable toggle to the Power Detector+ notification system. That toggle raises the warning threshold from 9.2A to 17A to match the ROG Equalizer cable specification.

Before that, version 2.1.0.2 updated the bundled GPU-Z component to version 2.69 and fixed a compatibility issue where some ROG Astral graphics cards did not support Level Sense. ASUS had previously expanded Level Sense support to ROG Astral and ROG Astral BTF Edition cards with GPU Tweak III v2.0.8.5.

GPU Tweak III also had a more visible update cycle in December, when ASUS issued fixes for compatibility problems with NVIDIA’s GeForce 591.44 driver. A later stable build added 1% low and 0.1% low FPS metrics to the OSD and logged data, while also addressing fan curve and driver-related issues.

The latest update is therefore smaller in scope, but it targets a problem that can directly affect gameplay. Users relying on GPU Tweak III’s overlay may want to update if they encounter crashes when closing the OSD.
