3DMark’s next-gen ray tracing test gets official screenshots and UHD teaser.

UL has now published official screenshots for its next-generation 3DMark GPU benchmark. ComputerBase has also obtained the original teaser video from Computex in higher quality, with playback available up to UHD.

We reported last week that the new 3DMark test was shown at the Thermal Grizzly booth during Computex. The teaser shown there referred to the workload as a “Next Gen Raytracing Test,” while the scene pointed to a much heavier benchmark than current 3DMark ray tracing tests.

Fully path-traced lighting

UL now confirms that the next flagship 3DMark GPU benchmark will use fully path-traced lighting. The flyer shown at Computex also mentions AI upscaling and frame generation support from all major GPU manufacturers.

A fully native 4K mode is planned as well. UL says this mode is intended for the most powerful gaming PCs, which fits the “GPU-eating monster” wording used in its own Computex material.

The benchmark is still not ready for release. UL says it will share more details about the selected technologies in the coming months. No launch date, GPU requirement, API information or final test configuration has been confirmed.
