AAEON brings Intel Wildcat Lake to edge systems, support up to 48GB memory

AAEON adds Wildcat Lake to UP Nexus and UP WCL systems

UP Nexus WCL supports up to 48GB LPDDR5 memory.

AAEON has confirmed a new UP WCL series based on Intel Core Series 3 processors, the platform previously known as Wildcat Lake. The company is preparing four products, split between developer boards and deployment-ready edge systems.

The lineup includes UP Nexus WCL, UP Nexus WCL Edge, UP WCL and UP WCL Edge. AAEON says the systems are coming soon, but pricing and full launch timing have not been confirmed.

UP Nexus WCL is the replacement for the UP Squared Pro line. The new board keeps the 40-pin GPIO header and adds USB 3.2 Gen2x2. AAEON also lists wide-temperature support and up to 48GB of soldered LPDDR5 memory.

The smaller UP WCL board uses an 85 × 56 mm form factor. AAEON says this model supports up to 24GB of onboard LPDDR5 memory and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The same base platform will also be available as the UP WCL Edge system.

Wildcat Lake is Intel’s lower-power Core Series 3 platform for value laptops, commercial systems and edge devices. Intel’s current Core Series 3 lineup tops out at 6 CPU cores in a 2P+0E+4LP configuration, with Xe3 graphics and a 15W base power target. VideoCardz recently covered several Wildcat Lake systems, including Minisforum NAS designs and MaxSun desktop boards, so AAEON is now joining a growing list of vendors using the platform.

AAEON has not shared exact processor SKUs for the UP WCL series yet. The company only confirms Intel Core Series 3 support for now, so details such as CPU model, graphics configuration and final I/O layout may depend on each board version.
