Gaming PC saves user’s life by stopping bullet fired through wall from neighbor’s apartment

PC hardware takes bullet in bedroom wall shooting incident

A Reddit user claims their gaming PC may have prevented a bullet from hitting them while they were asleep.

The post, shared on Reddit by user “angelbabyzz,” says the incident happened in the middle of the night. The user woke up to a loud bang and tempered glass hitting their face after a bullet entered the bedroom and struck the PC. According to the post, police said the computer changed the bullet’s trajectory and may have prevented it from hitting the user while they were sleeping.

PC hit instead of the owner

The bullet reportedly came from a neighboring apartment. The poster says the neighbor arrived shortly after the incident, shaken and apologizing, and claimed the firearm had been accidentally discharged by her dog. The user added that they are not sure about that explanation but believe the incident was accidental based on the neighbor’s reaction.

No injuries were reported. According to the Reddit post, the neighbor has been charged with criminal negligence, and the firearm was confiscated. The user says the neighbor’s insurance is expected to cover replacement and cleaning costs, but the neighbor also agreed to pay for the damage if insurance does not cover it.

Angelbabyzz said it took three days to clean glass from the bedroom. Apparently, the insurance offers a $3,500 for this damage. Well, it looks like G.Skill DDR5 memory took the main hit, perhaps the oversized heatsinks have an actual use? Unfortunately, most of the budget will go for the new memory.
