Lisa Su and AMD executives apparently signed the system
Lisa Su-signed AMD PC from 2014 era found unused.
A Reddit user claims to have found an unused AMD desktop PC apparently made for Rory Read, AMD’s former CEO. The system was reportedly discovered in an unopened AMD-labeled box while the user was working on a boiler installation.
According to the post, the owner of the house previously ran a computer shop that closed around 2016. The owner told the technician he could take old hardware from storage. One of the boxes contained a prebuilt AMD system with signatures on the case.
The system appears to include a dedication from Lisa Su, who replaced Rory Read as AMD CEO in October 2014. Several other AMD executives also appear to have signed the case, including Mark Papermaster, Devinder Kumar, Colette LaForce, Darrell Ford, John Byrne and Rajan Naik.
Ancient hardware inside
The system itself fits the 2014 to 2015 period. The Reddit user later listed the specs as an AMD A10-7800 APU, Radeon R9 285 graphics, 16GB of DDR3 Radeon Memory and a 500GB Radeon R7 2.5-inch SSD. The box also included a Windows 8.1 installation disc and Microsoft Office media.
The user said the PC showed no signs of use. The cables were still wrapped, the interior was clean and the system had apparently remained packed for years. This does not confirm that Read never opened it, but it suggests the machine was not used after it left AMD or whoever originally handled it.
The PC may have more value as an AMD collectible than as hardware. The A10-7800 and R9 285 are now far behind modern systems (hard to imaginet hat’s FM2+ socket even before AM4) but the signatures make it an unusual piece from AMD’s transition period between Read and Su.
