AMD’s Ryzen AI Halo developer PC reaches Micro Center at $3,999

Micro Center gets an exclusive US launch. No word on launch in other regions.

AMD’s Ryzen AI Halo developer platform is now listed by Micro Center in the US. The system is available in Linux and Windows 11 Pro variants, both priced at $3,999.99.

Both SKUs use the same hardware. The mini PC features the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, a Strix Halo APU with 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads. It also includes Radeon 8060S integrated graphics with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units and a 50 TOPS XDNA 2 NPU.

The system ships with 128GB of LPDDR5x-8000 unified memory and a 2TB SSD. Micro Center also lists 10GbE LAN, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The chassis measures 149.86 × 149.86 × 45.47 mm and weighs 1.2 kg.

Micro Center lists the Ryzen AI Halo system as in-store only. Online shipping is not available, although the product pages currently show pickup availability at multiple US stores. The Linux and Windows 11 Pro versions are listed at the same price.

Ryzen AI Halo is sold exclusively through Micro Center. The company advertises support for Windows and Linux (apparently it has zero effect on price), full ROCm support and local models up to 200 billion parameters, depending on model format and quantization.

AMD has already confirmed that the Ryzen AI Halo PC will be upgraded to the Ryzen AI Max+ 495 APU , which supports up to 192GB of memory. This system has no release date yet, but I would be genuinely shocked if it launched anywhere cheaper than the Max+ 395 version.

Friendly reminder that you can buy nearly the same spec’ed PC from 3rd party brands for $800 less. I’m not exactly sure what AMD is thinking here; typically, reference systems launch before custom. This time it’s the other way around, and the price is much higher.
